Rayleigh
Through the Looking Glass
We are a local voluntary group that gives slide show presentations on Rayleigh’s rich and varied history.
Talks are given to local clubs, groups, organisations and societies and the slides are taken from
our archive of over 5000 images dating from 1860 to the present.
We also advise Rayleigh Town Council on their Heritage Plaques
and we act as
Footpath Representative (P3) for Rayleigh Town Council.
Funds are raised for local charities, good causes and to help maintain and preserve our archives.
(for details please see our Charitable Donations page)
We have been successful with a number of grants which include Awards for All (Lottery), Grassroots Grants Essex,
Essex Heritage Trust and Essex Community Archive.

Sharon Davies
Sharon, wife of our Chairman Mike Davies, tragically died in the early hours of Friday
28th September 2018.
Sharon was the webmaster of this website who arranged the monthly
updates.
Many of you would have attended one of the Rayleigh Through the Looking Glass slide
show talks -
This update will continue thanks to Terry Joyce who has taken over this roll.
We hope to start the updates in 2019.
We send Mike and his family our sincere condolences.
