The Rayleigh Town Museum is a registered charity and operated by Volunteers. The building at 91 High Street, Rayleigh is a Grade II listed building which is a former timber-framed house dating from at least the 14th century, so a great location to house a Museum. The Museum received funding in 2015 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for its "inception, development and sustainability." It was officially opened by the local MP, Mark Francois, on 9 April 2016.
The Museum can develop and become sustainable over the coming years and expand with the help and support of it army of volunteers.
Our sustainability is also helped tremendously by your help in coming in to visit us and experience the great wealth of history we have so far been able to collect.

The Rayleigh Town Museum Friends Group began January 2015 and membership is now over 600.
The purpose of the Rayleigh Town Museum Friends Group is to give support for the development of the Museum and at the same time to make new friends with similar interests.
